transforming history and character into the latest and greatest

Like many small cities, Springfield’s downtown suffered from an image problem. Years of inadequate investment and suburban sprawl led many people to dismiss downtown as a viable option for lodging, dining, or nightlife. A family of Springfield natives, the McQuearys, observed their neighbors’ avoidance of downtown and saw an opportunity to revitalize the heart of the city they loved.

The building that houses Historic Vandivort was originally built as a Masonic Temple in 1906. The building sits on the National Register of Historic Places, and the McQuearys partners with local preservation organizations to restore the building’s grandeur while updating it to create a thriving social and hospitality venue. The hotel boasts two food and beverage outlets that thrive in their downtown environment. The Order welcomes guests in the lobby of Historic Vandivort and serves a modern take on Missouri cuisine in a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere. The bar program is particularly noteworthy — its handcrafted cocktails include showstoppers like a smoked old fashioned. In 2019, the hotel doubled its guest rooms with the addition of V2, a glamorous expansion that sits across Robberson Street from Historic Vandivort. V2 is crowned by Vantage Conservatory & Lounge, an elevated rooftop experience that boasts unparalleled views of the Queen City, semi-private cabanas, and heated igloos for when temperatures dip.
