a satisfying place to stay in starved rock country

The Midwest is dotted with small cities named for French explorers and indigenous tribes, and stories of Prohibition-era antics float along the Mississippi River and its tributaries. IDM’s newest project, Hotel Kaskaskia, embraces its history as a grand river city hotel in LaSalle, Illinois, just 90 miles west of Chicago, and reimagines its future as a boutique hotel, events and conference center that invites guests to experience its timeless, contemporary expression of elegance and luxury.

The building was designed by Chicago architecture firm Marshall & Fox, whose portfolio includes Chicago icons The Drake Hotel and The Blackstone Hotel. The six-story hotel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The original iteration of the hotel closed in 2001.

Hotel Kaskaskia will join Hotel Julien Dubuque as a prime example of how to restore an early twentieth-century landmark to its former beauty and relevance. The downtown hotel will feature all the modern amenities to which today’s traveler is accustomed, as well as thoughtful touches that guests will be delighted to discover. The property will include a restaurant, lounge, and a coffee shop/cafe; 16,509 square feet of meeting space including an elegant ballroom; an indoor pool and whirlpool; a fitness center; a business center; a rooftop terrace, and leased commercial space.
