Just a few weeks ago, IDM hosted their annual sales conference at Hotel Julien Dubuque. The theme of this year’s conference, Cookin’ Something Up, was meant to not only celebrate with delicious foods, smoothies, and snacks served throughout the day, but also to inspire attendees to think critically about how to use the information they would learn in their sessions to create strategic changes going forward. With a focus on sales, the conference featured topics like STR reporting, best practices for getting new business, and revenue management.
- IDM was thrilled to welcome Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s Secretary Stephanie Klett who helped us kick off our conference by discussing tourism for the state of Wisconsin, travel on a global scale, and how to balance life and work by getting out and exploring the Midwest!
- We were also joined by UW-Stout’s director of the School of Hospitality Leadership, Dr. Lalia Rach. As a well known keynote speaker and founder of her own consulting company, Rach Enterprises, Dr. Rach helped inform and inspire ideas about the future of hospitality and beyond, showing great insight into areas of technology and service that hoteliers can utilize and wield for their own successes.
- In an effort to connect in the digital age, IDM introduced the use of a hashtag to use not only at the conference, but on into the future. The hashtag, #ExtendHospitality, is a global call to action and an internal motivator to all IDM hoteliers to strive to continuously take hospitality to the next level. With action on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, you can find evidence of the IDM conference and spirit extended across the internet.
- Geneva Red, hailed as “one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary blues” by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, joined us Monday night for a Mississippi River Blues event to remember! Attendees enjoyed a exclusive performance and group harmonica lessons lead by Geneva Red herself.
With the conference now at a close, IDM is inspired, energized, and cookin’ up new ideas as we roll into 2015. Stay tuned by subscribing to our newsletter!
