IDM is pleased to announce its involvement in a number of projects in a region we have long awaited to break into: Illinois. IDM’s extension into a new state is not the only exciting aspect of this long awaited expansion, but that it includes the development of three unique and exciting hotels.
Rockford, Illinois, an area ripe for new growth, has been a point of interest to the IDM team for many years as we’ve worked closely with the Joseph James Partners to bring two long awaited hotel projects to life. The first, set to be one of the industry’s most unique adaptive reuse projects, is a 50-room, sports-centric, lifestyle hotel featuring a variety of guest rooms and food & beverage outlets. Its proximity to the UW Hospital Sports Factory and downtown location satisfy a specific and growing number of guests visiting the Rockford area. This property will cater to youth sports as well as fill a need for a downtown lodging facility, which is currently unfulfilled. The hotel is set to open in early 2017.
The sister property, set to open late 2017, sits on the other side of the river in a historic building that’s well aligned with many hotels in IDM’s current portfolio. This 82-room boutique hotel will not only feature an onsite restaurant, but also extensive meeting and event space on the sixth and seventh floors. Both Rockford hotels are expected to be a continuation of the development happening in the downtown Rockford area.
Approximately 60 miles south of Rockford sits LaSalle, Illinois, where a local developer from the greater LaSalle market is initiating a historic redevelopment of a project in the community and is the planning stage with IDM. This vacant building was once the community centerpiece and is planned to be restored to its former glory as a historic full service hotel. Financing is underway and the project is planned on opening in 2019.
