For IDM, November is well known for finalizing budgets, eating turkey, but perhaps most exciting of all: it kicks off conference season. Bringing people together, sharing, and collaborating encompass what we love most about our industry, and 2017 did not disappoint.
IDM was pleased to return to Hotel Julien Dubuque as we kicked off our annual GM & Sales Conference. On top of industry educational sessions and meeting planner panels, attendees learned about emotional intelligence and meditation tools to continue to develop their skills. Round table discussions have become a prominent fixture in our agendas so brainstorming and sharing happens naturally. With many new faces joining our family, the conference was a wonderful opportunity to greet old friends and meet new ones while continuing to grow.
In addition to organizing our own conferences, IDM participates annually in the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association conference and continues to be more involved than ever. Sitting on the opening panel was our own president, Craig Neddersen, speaking with other industry leaders about labor challenges, competing with increasing development, and the fantastic opportunities our industry affords. Various other team members from both the corporate office and HotelRED helped moderate and organize the event, and the attendees were able to wish our own Jason Ilstrup, 2016 Innkeeper of the Year, well wishes on his transition to President at Downtown Madison, Inc.
Perhaps most notably was Vice President of Operations, Becky Rogers, accepting Corporate Champion of the Year. Praised for loyalty to her teams, strong work ethic, and love of hospitality, Becky’s award continues to be strongly celebrated at IDM. We are proud of her achievements and echo her remarks to the audience, that continuing to make hospitality an integral part of our lives brings us richer lives and creates a better world. Thank you, Becky!
