MADISON, Wis. (November 1, 2016) – A property developed and managed by IDM Hospitality (www.IDMHospitality.com) based in Madison, Wis., has just been named Boutique Hotel of the Year by the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association. The Hotel Vandivort (www.HotelVandivort.com), a family-owned boutique hotel in Springfield, Mo., that opened just over a year ago in a completed restored 1906 building that was formerly a Masonic Temple is widely considered the catalyst behind Springfield’s city center rebirth. The award was announced at the Association’s annual leadership symposium in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association represents independent boutique and lifestyle hotels around the world, connecting hoteliers with travelers. The award selection criteria covered style, service, quality, and character. In presenting the award, the Association praised Hotel Vandivort’s “chic, artisanal design, innovative technology, sophisticated yet welcoming hospitality, and its strong partnership and commitment to the growing community and local charitable organizations.”
Hotel Vandivort, a AAA Four Diamond property, features 50 well-appointed guest rooms, two high-tech meeting rooms, the spacious Vandivort Ballroom, and hotel restaurant The Order. It is located at 305 E. Walnut in downtown Springfield. The extensive property restoration turned an underused building into a cultural hub and gathering place for area residents as well as savvy boutique hotel travelers. The building is on track to receive a LEED Gold certification in recognition of its environmentally conscious design.
Craig Neddersen, IDM president, praised the owners of the hotel for their vision and resilience. “The McQueary family came to us with a clear vision for the dynamic style and enlightened atmosphere they wanted for the hotel, filling a gap in Springfield’s city center experience, and we respect that they stayed true to that vision throughout an arduous process,” said Neddersen. “This award goes a long way in recognizing the work of the entire team in bringing a new culture of hospitality to the region.”
Hotel co-owner Billy McQueary added, “We’re thrilled to have Springfield and Hotel Vandivort recognized on this prestigious national stage. It’s an honor that this project can be a point of pride for our city and, we hope, an inspiration for the continued revitalization and development of downtown’s cultural renaissance.”
IDM, now celebrating 20 years of hotel management and development in the Midwest for boutique and independent properties, has a long history of involvement in revitalization efforts for downtowns in secondary and tertiary cities, with this latest success story adding greatly to its portfolio. “During our two decades of working with individuals whose passion for their cities motivates them to risk their time, resources and even their reputations on a transformative city center hotel, we’ve witnessed time and time again the power these projects have in sparking rebirth and reinvestment,” said Neddersen.
