MADISON, Wis. (November 12, 2015) – At IDM Hospitality Management, a Midwest boutique hotel management and development company located in Madison, Wisconsin, “setting the standard” in their hotel marketplaces is a fundamental expectation and management style. Equally important, is IDM’s goal to keep management across each of their hotels well supported, yet as independent and entrepreneurial as possible. Therefore, it came as no surprise that two of their hotels were awarded honorable achievements this fall.

Hotel Julien Dubuque, a 133 room hotel located in the city of Dubuque, Iowa, had already experienced an increase in attention this year when Season 19 of ABC’s The Bachelor came to Iowa and used the hotel as a backdrop for many of their episodes. The attention continued this fall as Hotel Julien Dubuque was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Lodging Property of 2015 award at the Iowa Tourism conference, held in Fairfield, Iowa in late October. The award recognizes a lodging business that has achieved excellence while supporting the growth of tourism in Iowa, and Hotel Julien Dubuque was recognized for their successes in community events, commitments to area history, and their work in ABC’s The Bachelor. General manager Dwight Hopfauf commented on the award, saying, “From departmental teams and leadership to IDM Hospitality Management and our ownership, this award encompasses a concentrated team effort to ensure the enjoyment of visitors to our city and hotel.”

Shortly thereafter, Hotel Julien Dubuque was also named the 2015 Property of the Year at the Iowa Lodging Association Conference in early November. The award is given to a property who has demonstrated excellence with an emphasis on professionalism and service. The association also cited the hotel’s vast array of involvements while recognizing its commitment to quality service. Nedd Neddersen, President of IDM, commented on the double-win by saying, “We at IDM could not be more proud of Hotel Julien Dubuque’s accomplishments. Dwight Hopfauf and his team have established a level of excellence in the industry that is created one guest contact at a time.”

Not long after, the Wisconsin Hotel and Lodging Association held their annual conference where HotelRED of Madison, Wisconsin was also in the spotlight. General manager and two-year WH&LA board member Jason Ilstrup was recognized for his outstanding leadership by receiving the 2015 Innkeeper of The Year award. Ilstrup’s contributions to the industry are apparent both internally and externally. He is credited with creating his property’s RED Rising mentorship program and was instrumental in the creation of Madison Hotel Week, a city wide promotion in Madison that has brought thousands of dollars in revenue to local businesses.

Also in attendance from HotelRED was housekeeping lead Maria Guardado who was celebrated for her passion and leadership by the Wisconsin Hotel and Lodging Association’s Spirit of Hospitality Award. Award winners are recognized for their outstanding service, dedication, and hospitable spirit. Guardado was one of 17 employees of properties around the entire state to be celebrated.

During the event, general manager Cory Latourell of Hotel Marshfield in Marshfield, Wisconsin, was also recognized as she was elected to the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association Board. “I’m thrilled to be a part of an organization that does so much for our businesses and our communities. It’s really wonderful to see IDM properties be part of a bigger conversation about our industry and I hope to see our involvement continue to grow.”

With their annual sales conference on the horizon and 2016 fast approaching, IDM not only celebrates these victories, but hopes to utilize the momentum of its leaders to create continued success and achievement across all their properties. The company looks ahead to next year excited for the growth of the boutique hotel industry and for the growth of its team members.
